Wan-Yen Li

Wan-Yen Li was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1996. She gained her professional experience in both Taiwan and Europe. She has earned a distinguished reputation as a soloist, Art Song pianist, accompanist, teacher and individual coach in various opera productions.

 

In 2021 Ms. Li was awarded first prize in Piano Accompaniment at the Brigitte Kampen Competition in Aachen. In 2022 she was accepted into the Richard Wagner Cologne Association Scholarship program and the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now program Cologne.

 

In 2023-2024 she received the Heidelberger Frühling Liedakademie Association scholarship with Thomas Hampson as the Artistic Director, under the guidance of Susan Manoff of the Academy. Furthermore, she was elected to the 2025 LIEDBasel Academy list and took part in masterclasses led by James Baillieu and Patricia Petibon. She has been invited to the 2026 Carnegie Hall SongStudio workshop as a collaborative pianist.

 

Ms. Li held concerts in Paris, London, Basel, Montepulciano, Tokyo and Taipei. In Germany, she performed in numerous locations such as Beethoven Haus Bonn, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Alte Aula der Universität Heidelberg, Boulez Saal Berlin and others.

 

From 2018 Ms. Li has accompanied several singing classes at the HfMT Köln (Conservatory for Music and Dance Cologne) where she holds a lectureship since 2024. As a piano accompanist, she has worked with numerous choirs in Taiwan and Germany. From the 2025 season onwards, she fills the post as the choir accompanist at the Theater Aachen in Germany.

 

Having previously completed her Bachelor's Degree in Taiwan she completed a Master's Degree in Lied Interpretation with Prof. Ulrich Eisenlohr and in Contemporary Piano Music with Prof. Pierre-Laurent Aimard at the HfMT Köln. In 2025 Ms Li completed her Master's degree in solo piano under Prof. Florian Hölscher at the HfMDK Frankfurt am Main (Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts) and her Konzertexamen degree in Lied interpretation under Prof Stefan Irmer at the HfMT Köln (Cologne University of Music and Dance).
